I had a thought about an idea that would help during the debugging process–or perhaps if running the process at all. Right now, we have the little window that shows which step is currently being performed. However, it would be easier if the elements on which the bots are working were identified during the debugging process (as shown below).
Hi, @BrandonTerry Thanks for building upon this idea. This will be super helpful when troubleshooting. Our PO team is constantly reviewing these ideas on the platform. Thanks for sharing.
I actually had the privilege of using a similar software that does this type of identification, even during normal runs. It would really be great if we could get this option and a few more!
Highlight elements before and as the bot interacts with them.
Have the option of enabling/disabling the highlights, notification window, or both.
Update the notification window to not only show the activity that is currently running, but also any comment connected to it. I use the Comments in the activities’ parameters to actually name the activity itself. If we had this option available to us, the notification window would show “Click on element - Log In Button” rather than just “Click on element.” This is helpful because we often use the same activities on repeat, and they all kind of cluster together when we are monitoring the notification window. It would just be nice to know exactly where we are in the process as it’s running.
Final note on this, we should be able to get an organized report either emailed to us or downloaded. It should contain columns like Activity, Activity Name (Comment), and any additional notes. Those additional notes could contain details like error messages or wait times–i.e. “Bot waited for 10 seconds before identifying element.” This should be something that can be enabled/disabled at any time as well.
As always, thank you for your time and consideration! We really appreciate it!
Hi @Brandon This is impressive; we can definitely look into this. We appreciate you bringing this up, and as usual, feel free to add any additional comments or recommendations. Happy Automation!!!
